One of the goals pursued by AREF is to contribute to the achievement of projects, either individual or collective, of a social, cultural or intellectual nature. In order to promote this goal, AREF adopted a policy to support such projects sponsored by members of various regions.
To be approved, projects must meet the following criteria:
1.Be presented clearly, specifying the target population, the timeframe, the goals pursued, the member(s) involved and their responsibilities, as well as detailed budget.
2.Be presented by at least one AREF member who thereby becomes the project sponsor and will be directly involved in the delivery and management of the project.
4.Be related to education.
- the purchase of books, school supplies or software;
- the promotion of literacy;
- learning aids;
- assistance for the handicapped.
5.Have a local, regional, national or international scope (maximum 25% of the budget will be allowed for international projects).
6.Relate preferably to a specific target population (the elderly, the underprivileged, etc.) not already sponsored by community organizations nor covered by existing government programs, personal insurances and such.
*When projects are of equal quality, the committee adopted the policy of supporting a greater number of projects rather than allowing all or most of the funding to one project.
**It is important to mention that an already subsidized project may be resubmitted after a period of two years.
***AREF will no longer fund student training periods.
Project Proposer Responsibilities
Besides being involved in the project, the proposer must formally agree to submit to the committee a comprehensive activities report on June 30, 2020 or, at the latest, 30 days following the scheduled project completion date.
Allocation of Funds
An amount equal to 2/3 of the allocated funding will be received upon approval of the project. The balance will be paid upon approval of the final report by the selection committee.
